Kailua High Peer Education Program
Mindfulness, Mentoring and Mediation
The Kailua High Peer Education Program works to support students through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities facilitated through group counseling. Students at Kailua High School may take part in SEL Groups offered on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch and earn up to 2 additional elective credits a year: Positive Coping Strategies Group (PC Group on Tuesday at Lunch) and Peer Education Program (PEP on Thursday at Lunch). Positive Coping Strategies provides students with an opportunity to cope with feelings of stress and anxiety through mindfulness strategies. KHS students mentor other KHS students through the Peer Education Program (PEP) by facilitating SEL guidance lessons and Peer Mediation. Students and teachers at Kailua High School may also participate in Yoga classes offered the first Tuesday of each month after school at 5:00 pm and Crochet Club offered on Friday at Lunch and afterschool.
